Well, I really feel like a slacker now.Work stuff-nasty trials- and too many irons in the old fire: restore old Atlas 6" lathe, complete three partially done wooden bodied planes, finish building a glider cradle for a July grandson, complete the prepping of three Stanley planes I will be donating to auction for this family of dear friends at OLF-cooking,cleaning house, ironing(not really, just thought I'd throw that in)laundry and finally, trying to get up the courage to brace my top and get going on this languishing guitar.MT PS- assemble my Ridgid BS,box never opened since Feb. and setting up heat control for the charcoal starter element in my bending iron, see I knew there was an iron in there somewhere.Miketobey38871.8785416667

Thanks guys, i had a hard time bending it and also glueing it, 2 of them bindings snapped on me when i was at 3/4 the way glueing the whole length but i managed to save the day with CARPENTER'S GLUE that i like to call TITEBOND!

Mike and Al, you both are not slackers, it's just that you both are productive but in a different way! And as they say, every road leads to Rome so we'll all get there in time for the party right?! Thanks to both of you for the same and different reasons, i really feel and appreciate the encouragement!

Hesh and Alain, Thanks, there are a few gaps that will need filling under the bindings but i feel confident that CA is still my friend, i just purchased another bottle of that great stuff tonight! I'll try to come up with a bridge design that'll make ya both proud!

Merci beaucoup Docteur Andy, j'apprecie votre encouragement du plus profond de mon coeur!

ok, i'll translate : Thanks a lot Doc Andy, i appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! do i need to translate the emoticons? Thanks my friend!

Thanks Todd, yeah, never saw a wood so hard to bend and so easy to snap at the same time, and splintery too!

Thanks Steve and Pat, i appreciate your motivation too guys!

Thanks Ron, did you decide if you are gonna come at Bob Cefalu's in July? That'd be just great my friend but i'm not putting any pressure on you, i understand that it's quite a ride. I might not be finished with this guitar but i plan on bringing it there to get advice from the pros who will show up, if you do come tho, i'll let ya hold my baby for sure!

Great stuff Serge, your coming along really well. Please though get some SM or LMI brown tape, that blue colour really clashes with the top wood!

Keep it up soon have #2 finished and #3 on the way.

Thank you very much Colin, i promiss i will get rid of that blue tape and will get the real stuff!

Yeah, that tape didn't work really good i must admit, too easy to tear in your hands, i hope nobody else uses it.

Hi there Serge, That cool purple binding looks uh, COOL! Your guitar's going to look great when it's all done. Wish I could see it up at Zootmans but I can't make that drive all the way from Florida.I'm sure I'll get to meet you sometime in the future! Have you decided what you want to use for a headstock overlay?Ebony or more purple heart maybe?

I'd like that, Serge. I'm still undecided about the trip. I'd love it but it is 1200 miles away.

Hey Serge,
Looks like things are coming along, Looking good.
Have you started planning #3, 4, and 5 yet?

Author:  Serge Poirier [ Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:52 pm ]
Post subject:

Thanks Dave, if i get down there one day, it sure will be during our winter months. IIRC, i think it's called Frostproof or something like that, a camping ground near Orlando, he and Mom had made the move there just before coming back here for summer .

Thanks also D.L., yes i did, no 3 should be the same woods except for the appointments, no 4 should be a WRC top with white ash back & sides and ebony bindings and on no 5, i'll have to flip a coin to choose between walnut and sycamore as Backs and sides to go with an italian spruce top!
